(WO)MAN UP SERIES: FEAR THE WALKING DEAD

17th of October, 2017

fearwalkingdeadPOSTER2

“Fear The Walking Dead” is a post-apocalyptic TV show created by AMC Studios, Circle of Confusion and Valhalla Entertainment. Alike “The Walking Dead”, production focuses on a group of people who try to survive the epidemy of zombies. Madison, her husband Travis, their children: Alicia, Nick and Chris as well as Travis’ ex-wife Liza. They move from Los Angeles to Mexico, they do everything for survival. Characters gain new allies as well as enemies. They also lose their loved ones.

“Fear…” is more focused on relationships between people than the whole idea of zombies and, in my opinion, it’s something that attracts people. I feel like walkers are only a trigger for people to start fighting. Throughout three seasons, the wievers have a chance to see characters evolve and change. In the name of the series, I decided to focus on one of the main, two female characters: Madison Clark and her daughter Alicia who are one of the most imporant figures in the show.

Red14

Maddie is with the viewers from the very beginning. She is like mother who leads her children through the pain, laughter and – most importantly, survival. For many reasons, Madison is very alike “Orphan Black’s” Mrs. Siobhan Sadler (I wrote about the show earlier). When she finds out that zombie apocalypse is true, she doesn’t panic, no. A woman decides to find all her family and fight for survival. Many times she is about to sacrifice herself to protect not only her family and children, but also her friends. Maybe her behaviour has a connection to what she used to do befoe zombies? Madison used to be a therapist, some sort of psychologist in high school where also Alicia attended.

She is the one who makes all tough decisions, no matter what people say. Madison doesn’t care what others think. All she wants to do is to keep everyone alive and safe. Althought she loves her children very much, she doesn’t treat them like that. When Nick, her son wants to leave on his own, she lets him. The same goes with her husband and his son. In my opinion,  Madison is the embodiment of a strong, modern-day female warrior. It even comes to her opposing the army and threatening to kill one of soldiers just to get out of danger. And the danger doesn’t come from the walkers, but from the mortals.

Madison is only a human, of course, and sometimes even her loses it. But then she can calm down without doing anything stupid and I think it’s a great quality. The woman breaks a stereotype of weak, unstable female character in a war. She doesn’t need a saviour. She is a saviour. She doesn’t let anybody lead her. She’s the one who leads.

alicia-clark-4742x3163-fear-the-walking-dead-season-2-4k-1993

Her daughter, Alicia, is really alike her mother. She’s young, around 18 years old. Although her age, she is mature enough to take a lead when Madison leaves to look for water and supplies. Alicia, young woman, has to make tough decisions that lead to either death or survival of people on the Ranch (their temporary home). That one situation defiens her, makes her stronger, but also makes her realize that nothing might change. That apocalypse is permanent and they might never have a normal house ever again.

When the viewers meet Alicia, she seems like a spoiled brat, always on her phone and listening to her music. She only cares about finding her high school boyfriend. But once the apocalypse starts, fans have a chance to see a new face of female character – strong, caring about her family etc.

It’s really important for female fans all over the world to see how mother-daughter relationship works here. When Madison is not in charge, she gives Alicia that chance. The viewers can see what zombie apocalypse does to Alicia. She’s not only more mature, she has to grow up faster and become her mom’s partner. But all of that has a price. Alicia seems to lose all hope for the future. Episode after episode her flame goes out. And she has to do something about it.

Besides Madison and Alicia, there is also Ofelia and Liza. But the first two are the ones who the viewers know from the very beginning. They show that women can be very strong, even in the most dangerous life situation. They also can unite if they have to, without any agruments or grudges.

The viewers had a chance to see two hours’ season finale previous Sunday. Hopefully, we will soon see what’s gonna happen with Madison and others as the creators left us with a huge cliffhanger.

“(Wo)man Up” Series: Orphan Black

10th of August, 2017

Orphan Black all - color sentence (2)

Eurythmics once sang along with Aretha Franklin those lines: Sisters are doing it for themselves. Standing on their own two feet. And ringing on their own bells. There are no better words to describe “clones-sisters” from Orphan Black – BBC America production created by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett. The viewers will have a pleasure (or sadness and pleasure, because production is one of the best ones) to see the last, finale episode Saturday, at 10 on BBC America channel. That is why Orphan Black will do the honour to begin new (Wo)man Up Series, where I write about women in tv shows and movies (once a week – different production).

Orphan Black is, without doubt, one of the best, the smartest, the most dynamic production people have ever seen. There is action, mystery and incredible chemistry between characters. All those qualities together gave me a thrill I never felt before. Tatiana Maslany, the main actress playing ALL(sic!) clones, is one of the most talented artist entertainment industry had ever seen – no doubt! She played almost 30 or more clones in the show. With the help of Katherine Alexandre – her double stunt – she created a group of amazing, independent, sometimes funny women who are not afraid to stand up and fight for their rights even if it means sacrifise. Oh, there was a lot of sacrifise. Fifth finale season gave fans one of the most brutnal clone death – MK, quiet clone, Helsinki survivor who was helping others. After the episode, Internet literally broke. People were grieving after MK’s death. That only proves how much of a talent Maslany really is: I try to get roles that challenge me in what I can do and who I think I can portray. For me, it’s about creating characters with really fascinating stories, because that’s what I like to watch on TV, said Maslany in one of many interviews.  Every one of Tatiana’s characters had beautiful, often sad story and the acress showed that without any fail.

Throughout all five seasons, the clones, which the audience had the best chance to get to meet Sarah Manning, Cosima Niehaus, Alison Hendrix, Helena and Rachel Duncan. Each of them, together, and also separately have shown that feminine solidarity is one of the most powerful things in the world. Each one is different, has a different way of being, different experiences – Sarah Manning is lost woman with daughter who wants to find her way in life, Cosima Niehaus is a smart scientist, trying to find a love she deserves. Alison Hendrix is not-so-typical soccer mom of two and suspects her husband is her monitor.  Helena is an Ukrainian orphan, Sarah’s real twin, trained to kill others. In her example, you can observe how difficult it is to free yourself from the mental abuse. Helena was raised by Prolethians, the group of dangerous people. Trained, tortured, raised without love, the character is a perfect example of a person, of a woman who survived and wants a change of her life.

bad siblings

Rachel Duncan is a contrast of her sisters. Raised by Neolutionists – the creators of clones, she was being prepared to take over responsibilities of her guardian, Aldous. In many moments, Rachel resembles Helena. Although both women were raised differently, there is a certain kind of abuse that, in both cases, is similar. But the two characters show that you can get out of the oppression and after a lot of hard work, try to live normally.

Although sisters and Rachel Duncan are on opposite sides, there is day when they all have to unite to defend even more powerful villain – the founder of Neolution, PT Westmoreland who claims to be over 100 years old. Orphan Black has come to a point where there is, really is a man behind the curtain. There is a problem of patriarchy, still fresh and present  in modern world. Although PT tries to control women’s bodies, sisters, Siobhan – Sarah’s mother and Delphine along with Felix and Adele do everything they can to defy him. The time finally had come to show how strong and independed women can be to gain their rights and autonomy.

To defeat the enemy, Cosima Niehaus along with Delphine Cormier, her monitor and partner in life, and Scott, has to explore Neolutionism and work on clones’ advancing diseanse that touches her personally, too. Cosima reflects knowledge in Orphan Black, as well as his own sexuality. The scientist demonstrates that being scientifically gifted is not a graph of being so-called. geek. Cosima and Delphine (Cophine) helped many young women deal with their own sexuality. And if the series can positively affect the change in the public, it can only testify to the greatness and freshness of production.

Sarah Manning and Alison Hendrix, although so very different, they seem to be so similar. Sarah Manning is bravado, which sometimes ends up really bad. Alison seems to be like that too. A woman often makes decisions based on emotions. Both sisters have a problem with the abuse of alcohol. Both have children. Sarah Manning has a daughter, Alison has two adopted children – boy and a girl. In spite of this, Alison seems to be happier, giving the audience a laugh and a respite. Sarah, on the other hand, introduces powerful, often darker emotions.

Sisters show they can fight but they couldn’t handle everything without help of Delphine Cormier, Siobhan “Mrs. S.” Sadler, Felix Dawkins- Sarah’s brother and Adele, his biological sister. We also cannot forget about Art – police detective.

Delphine Cormier had come a long way into Clone Club to be finally trusted yet there are still some people who don’t truly believe her. But, to be honest, there is nothing to believe in or not believe in anymore. Delphine had been welcomed in clone family for good. Evelyne Brochu, playing the rold of the blonde scientist said: Women can’t only be the person only there to french kiss the hero after he’s won the game or won the war. Women are half of humanity. They’re part of history. Brochu proves that in her role. Delphine’s specialty is immunology, whose heroine devotes essentially all her life. Doctor, whose home country is France, is assigned the role of monitor. Delphine shows viewers the world of science and technology, which is extremely important in Canadian production, but not only, because the viewer has a chance to watch the heroine through the deeper relationship with Cosima that suddenly turns into love.

cophine2

In all its complexity, the image of Delphine’s world, however, creates some coherence. Spectators have the opportunity to watch her: her climbing the ranks of the career and the gradation of feelings that character reveals to the audience season-after-season. She is an employee first and answers before Leekie and then takes his place. Delphine becomes director of the institute and has to make decisions that affect not only her and her relationship with Cosima but also with her lover’s sisters. Delphine Cormier proves in every season of production that she will do everything to be a good boss and an effective caregiver. Despite the discrimination of the Cosima’s sisters, she still tries to do everything for them. The doctor proves to viewers thinking that her relationship with Cosima is ephemeral and not important, that it is an illusion. Delphine also shows that she is a much better boss than her predecessor. Delphine Cormier is the defition of a strong woman who will do anything for love and truth. mrs s ssssSiobhan Sadler keeps her pace with one exception. Not only does she prove the power of women, but also shows how tough and important it is to be a mother. Mrs. S adpoted Sarah and Felix when they were kids, had to handle all their behaviours, then Sarah’s dissapearens. She had to take care of Kira, Sarah’s daughter. But she did all of it in the name of love. Siobhan is the shadow of her family through all seasons of production. A woman cares for their well-being and takes care of them. Even when it comes to tragedy and the woman loses her mother who turned out to be a clone original – she still stands with her loved ones. Siobhan along with Felix, Delphine and Adele, destroy the Neolution. Siobhan, even for the price of her life, will not let their chickens to be killed. She sacrifises herself which is one of the most powerful, most heartbreaking scenes in Orphan Black.

Tatiana Maslany said once: I feel so lucky to be in a show that puts women at the center. And this is true. Production proves that women can be strong and fight for what’s good for them. As Felix said in episode eight, season five – To galaxy of women!

Ten TV and Movie Women Who Inspire Me

19th of July, 2017

official

Who run the world? Girls! That’s how a known singer used to sing. And thank God media listen and started creating evolving, important roles for women who now are heroines, scientists, saviors and many more. Situation with women in television is getting better. Hopefully, it’s gonna improve even more.

I present you my own, personal list of brave women from television and cinema who inspire me or inspired me in my teenage/adult life. It is amazing thing that fictional characters can positively influence people’s lives.

1. Delphine Cormier

Orphan Black

The female scientist from amazing Canadian TV show Orphan Black not only shows us that “science” field is not only for men, but also that love is love, no matter who you love – woman or a man. Delphine is smart, very dedicated to her work, brave with brilliant mind. She can even take a bullet for people she loves. She believes in science, not career. She can sacrifice a lot and fight like a tiger. That’s why I admire her character. Plus she is a great boss.

2. Claire Underwood

kk9fvmzif5yfncgb70xg (1)

She’s not perfect. Nobody is. I could even go further – Claire is not the purest woman in the “presidency” world. But she showed me that if you’re strong enough, you can achieve anything you want. You shouldn’t care about what other people think or say. You should always be calm and talk peacefully, because then you will annoy your opponets even more and make them talk very silly things. It’s hard for people who are extravertics, but it’s possible!

3. Aurora Luft

X-Co-310-Aurora-Faber-2

Aurora Luft is a character from Canadian-Hungarian TV show X Company.  She is incredibly brilliant, speaks English, German and French. Add to that, she has amazing ability to melt into the crowd. Her alter ego – Helena Baeur, steals information from Nazi so then Aurora and the group could use it. Aurora is also amazingly skilled with using a knife. She can kill bad people in a matter of second. But the best thing about her is that she is in charge of the group of spies – all men. They all treat her equally, they think she’s an excellent leader and very smart woman. Aurora gives them the same. That’s what I value the most in her character.

4. Siobhan Sadler

orphanblacks02e022

“Everyone’s mom” from Orphan Black showed me how much of a hard work you have to put to be a good mom. Sometimes you need to fight very bad people to protect your family. That’s what she does. She also has to handle her foster kids’ behaviours, which is not easy thing to do. But Siobhan handles this just great. Thanks to her I know that moms are the most hard working human beings.

5. Stef & Lena Fosters

abcfamily

I was thinking if I should pick Lena or Stef, but then I decided to pick them both and put in one number. They are wives from Freeform TV show The Fosters. Together they are raising five children (four adopted and one born). The Fosters is amazing not only because of the great cast. Stef and Lena show viewers, that being gay doesn’ make you bad parent – opposite! They wanted children no matter what, they make mistakes, but they can always cope. Their sons and daughters love them and know they can talk to thme about everything.

6. Phoebe Halliwell

7x18-Phoebe

Thanks to her character from Charmed I fell in love with martial arts. Phoebe taught me that not only boys can do that, girls too! Phoebe is strong, independent and funny. She was very bad teenager, but she understood her mistakes and reunited with her sisters. We also can see amazing sister/women power in Charmed. They fight the most dangerous demons with her powers, but even with powers, they would be useless if not their amazing connection they have.

7. Lisbeth Salander

19285374

Lisbeth Salander is anti-social, rude and  dangerous. But somehow she can teach us, that no matter what, you should fight for yourself and for your autonomy. She had the worst childhood, but she survived. Then she was raped by the person who should help her – her social worker. But she survived, she got her revenge and it made her even stronger. I think that’s why she is on my list – for her will of survival.

8. Snow White

103MoreIsolated

Snow White from Once Upon a Time where the creators made female princesses the real fighters! One of them was Snow White. I value her because of her strenght and so much love. She was the one who fought for the Prince Charming. She didn’t wait for him in some tower, no. She took all risk she could. Her character was an incredible addition to the show.

9. Lisa Cuddy

40927_story__house-lisa-edelstein-as-dr-lisa-cuddy-4

Lisa Cuddy, the character from House, M.D was the first female who became a Dean in America under 35 years old. She showed me back in the day, me 15 years old teenager, that woman can be a great boss and have a family in the same time. Throughout the years, I finished watching House, M.D. but I would still remember about her power, wisdom and cheekiness. Especially in taking charge of House.

10. Trinity

trinity_the_matrix-11351

Her and Phoebe Halliwell were my first tv show heroines who changed my perspectives. When I saw Martix for the first time, I had birthday. Then I saw Trinity on the screen and thought – Wow! She’s a woman and she can be in the team with men, be as smart and strong as them! I need to admit, I had a crush on Trinity back in the day. She was this brave woman and I wanted to be just like her!

I hope you will like my list. All those movies and TV shows I highly recommend!

Orange Is The New Black: Abuse Of Power

11th of June, 2017

oitnb

I’m freshly after binge-watching the newest, 5th season of Netflix Original Series “Orange Is The New Black”. I don’t want to spoil anything. I can say that this season was intense, shocking and very touching.

“Orange Is The New Black” is a story about inmates in Litchfield Prison with the least strict security. But is it the least strict security in real life? Throught the seasons the viewers got to know main characters – Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling), Alex Vause (Laura Prepon), Red (Kate Mulgrew), Lorna Morello (Yael Stone), Nicky Nichols (Natasha Lyonne) and many many others. Each of inmates has their own tragic story that people can get in every episode in retrospection – one episode, someone’s story.

In season fifth everything escalates. The new guards think that they can do everything to women in prison and their chief let them. The events are getting even more intense when one of the guards accidentally kills Poussey – one of the prisoners, and another of them brings a gun to prison.

1280_daya_orange_is_the_new_black_youtube

The anger, grief after a lose of their friend and exhaustion causes a huge riot where women take hostages (all guards) and threaten not to let them go if MCC and governor don’t do what they want – better education, better treating, nicer guards and most importantly – a trial for the one who killed their friend.  In the same time all of them fight for their own smaller things like trying to see their children, love and simply – peace of mind. Some of them try to bring justice on their own. Like Red who can’t stand patriarchy of guards led by Piscatella.

The last episode knocked me out. I cried for the last five minutes. Jenji Kohan ended it like the previous seasons – with one, huge unknown. The finale left me with million questions and made me think about the world, about prisons, about those women. About overusing power. I saw how those women are beaten up without reason, molested, humiliated and then killed. No one takes responsibility for their actions because why? Those are inmates. They are lying. Everybody makes mistakes – some people bigger, some of them smaller. I got to know each character and I can see how most of them try to fix their problems, their broken families, all mistakes. But how can they do it when they don’t even have a chance? It is only a TV show yet based on true events. But it all happens on bigger or smaller level in almost every area of the globe.

orange-is-the-new-black-season-5-photo002-1497020689503_1280w

Litchfield prisoners saw the chance in riot and they took it. They decided to stand up and listen up. They decided to fight for their own lives, so often tainted. I don’t know who wins or who loses. I realized that the action is more important than the aftermath.

I think “OITNB” quite thoroughly shows mentioned overpower. On the example of the prison people can see the breakdown of the world, bad system, abuse from almost every side. It also shows what happens when you are in somebody else’s shoes. If people could change their places for only ONE day, they would understand each other way better. That’s my opinion.

I heard many times that without power, people would kill each other. But what if that power focused on understanding and better communication? Wouldn’t it be so much better? Yes, I am aware how idealistic that sounds. And maybe it’s stupid but I believe in this. Little steps are the most important. People say that they can’t change the world. But they really can.

Perfect Life is Perfect Lie [“Big Little Lies” review]

20th of May, 2017

613_1024x411

Life of parents is not as easy as it sounds. Especially when it’s about the race of rats between them about who has smarter kid. And it’s even harder when, during this race, there is a murder involved. Who is killed? How did it happen? Is everybody lying over and over? And most importantly – who’s the killer?

New mini TV series made by HBO, written by David E. Kelley and directed by amazing Jean-Marc Vallée surprises the viewers from the very beginning. That’s not weird, because the book which inspired the production is written the same way. We get the history of three friends – Madeline, Celeste and Jane along with their problems and struggles of the daily life. In the same time, we listen to testimony of the witnesses of the murder (murder happened on the integration evening, by the way). The past is mixing with the present, but don’t worry, you’ll not get lost. In contrary, actually. You will not want to stop watching it.

episode-01-1920

Madeline Mackenzie is the bravest one. She will not pause to tell someone the truth. She gossips too, but somehow the viewers love her. In the same time, Madeline is extremely loyal to her two friends. There is neither jelousy nor rivalry betweem them three. They don’t fight over kids or husbands. In my opinion, Madeline is the portrayal of a little crazy, but very good female friend. As the culture, especially film and TV production suffer from lack of the true portrayals of female friendships, Big Little Lies will show amazing feminine bond. Madeline has two kids – Chloe and Abigail from the first marriage. Woman struggles with the hate towards new wife of her ex husband Nathan and the rebellion from her daughter. Episode after episode the viewers see how complex her character is. I think this is definitely merit of amazing Reese Whiterspoon who played her role.

Celeste is the quietest one.  She’s very beautiful, calm woman with two twins and loving husband everybody envies her. The viewer finds out she finished law studies, but she abandoned the career to have children. Her husband, Perry, supports the family. Wrigths are very rich, but hold very dark secret deep in the shades of their luxurious life. Perry abuses Celeste and she is very recluctant about leaving him. As an excuse, she picks raising twins, Max and Josh. Celeste doesn’t share the secret with her friends, because she doesn’t want them to know about that. Nicole Kidman, who played Celeste, was incroyable in the role and very authentic.

Jane is the mysterious one. No one knows where did she come from. Single mother with a son, Ziggy, moves to Monterey to sign him up to the school where all the kids go along with Madeline’s and Celeste’s. Jane is very young and extremely mysterous. She’s different from other mothers, too. She doesn’t care about beautiful clothes or newest gadgets. Madeline and Celeste take her under care, try to introduce to everyone. Jane slowly opens up to them and soon, they find out about horrible thing that happend in her past. She was raped. Shailene Woodley, known from The Fault in Our Stars was the perfect choice for Jane’s character.

040317-big-little-lies-kids-lead

Everything happens quickly after the meeting at school. Amabella, daugher of very succesful Renata Klein (amazing Laura Dern) accuses Ziggy of choking her. In fact, she does have marks on the neck. Nothing is the same after. It’s as if young boy had been marked and no one can play with him anymore. But the true fight is not amongst children, it’s amongst parents. Madeline, trying to protect Jane, manifestly opens up the fire. The fight affects children who don’t even remember about previous events. But hurting young Amabella keeps happening. Ziggy seems to know who is that, but he doesn’t want to say. When all three fight with Renata and her supporters, all of them has their own stuff to solve. Madeline tries to reconcile with Abigail’s moving out to her father, Celeste fights with her husband who abuses her and Jane helps Ziggy in the same time trying to help herself with the past.

The viewers know from the beginning that someone has been killed. Creators show them the path leading to murder. Events are escalating episode by episode. Every next one is more intense and brutal. Jean-Marc Vallée showed the whole palette of characters’ feelings by proximity scenes and scenes of details. The huge part plays the ocean too – at its example, we can see how human’s personality works: sometimes it’s calmed as smooth waves, but next it can be very dangerous, very brutal as abusive partner. The director was the jackpot. Beautiful scenes composed with wisely selected music (e.g. Elvis Presley, Michael Kiwanuka, Jeffersons Airplane etc.) created brave, sometimes sad portrayal of modern parents, but also murder, abusive relationships, lies. And gossips.

Jackie: Not that there’s a right little girl to strangle, but [Ziggy] picked the wrong little girl to strangle.

Harper: Jane just didn’t fit here, kind of like a dirty old Prius parked outside of Barney’s.

Dr. Chang: There was a 4×3 full thickness scalp laceration located on the superior occipital portion of the scalp. We also discovered a full thickness scalp contusion and associated subgaleal hemorrhages and a putrified and liquified brain.
Stu: So it was a lot of blood.

Madeline: To be accused of something so horrible on your very first day at a new school. Can you imagine anything worse?

On the Big Little Lies we can see that gossips are not only teenagers’ thing to do. It’s getting worse with age. TV series presents how lies work. Everybody tries to create perfect life, in the same time talking about other known people, very often in a negative way. After a time, they start to believe in their own lies. And it’s dangerous.

Except mentioned trio plus amazing Laura Dern, fans can also see Zoë Kravitz as Bonnie, Alexander Skarsgård as Perry , James Tupper as Nathan, Adam Scott as Ed etc. As we can see, the cast was very wisely selected. And well, they were completely right to choose such talented actors. They made characters even more complex.

BLL_107_Jane_and_Madeline

The most amazing and shocking scene of Big Little Lies when Jane looks into her past’s eyes and Madeline slowly realizes what is going on…

The last episode of Big Little Lies left me with cover of You Can’t Always Get What You Want  and mouth agape. I had million questions and even mote thoughts in my head. Is it really how adulthood looks like? Like mother/fatherhood is? Is really everybody lying, trying to create a fake life? Who do I truly know in my life?

One is sure. Big Little Lies and the cast deserves every applause. I did not expect such a good show (I guess blame the title), but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s only eight episodes, hopefully it will be more, but it leaves you with shock. I highly recommend.

Who is Delphine Cormier? Theories About The Character From “Orphan Black”

18th of April, 2016

OrphanBlack309_1213

The last, 5th season of science-fiction futuristic tv show Orphan Black will air on 10th of June 2017 on BBC America. The picture about clone sisters and new science called Neolution is a huge success all over the world. Tatiana Maslany, an Emmy awarded actress who is behind all clones, is unbelievable talented. She created more than twenty completely different characters. The only thing that’s the same is their face.

The final battle will be played out between five main sisters: Sarah Manning, Cosima Niehaus, Alison Hendrix, Helena and evil one – Rachel Duncan. We will also have a chance to probably see Krystal Goderitch who was the one that actually saved Delphine Cormier – the second main character (after all clones) in Orphan Black.

Before I go to the theories, let’s go back to the last episode of season 4. MK is back to sestras, because she got sick too. She’s trying to help all of them again. Donnie got out from prison.ob410_2983 Along with Alison, they can’t stand living like they do so they decide to leave for holidays. Unfortunately it looks like they can’t – Evie Cho’s guy tries to kill them, but suddenly out of nowhere Helena saves the day (again). All three of them go to the shelter Ukrainian clone built. In the same time, Rachel exchanges the places with Cosima – she comes back to destroy Evie Cho and Cosima goes to the island to find the cure along with Susan. The cure is found, Rachel messes with sisters again and tries to continue Neolution science. Cosima is cut off by Susan. The medicine is taken away from her. Sarah decides to go and help Cosima. Rachel also comes back to the island,  stabbing Susan whilob410e Cosima and Charlotte escape from the mansion. There is the moment everybody was waiting for – they are found by The Messanger and brought to the camp where Delphine is (we find out it was detective Duko who shot her but Van Lier – Evie Cho’s helper – rescued her). That was the most beautiful moment in the tv series. Delphine has to help Cosima, whom is slipping away. French doctor cannot believe Cosima found the cure. In tob410_3243he same time she asks her lover not to tell anyone about it. Season 4 ends with Sarah escaping Rachel’s claws. But everything can go all worse and well… that’s how it is. Sarah calls Mrs. S. who cannot talk to her, because Ferdinand, who is with her and Kira, takes the phone away.

First questions that appear in my head – if Rachel has all Neolution in her claws, does that mean she wants Kira in exchange for Sarah’s life? Or maybe she’s blackmailing them (Ferdinand will shoot Kira and Siobhan if Sarah Manning doesn’t come back to Rachel?) We will all find out very soon.

The real question is that is with me all the time – who is Delphine Cormier? TherOrphanBlack310_2826e is no doubt that she is the most mysterious character from the show. Who know me knows that she is my favourite character played by Evelyne Brochu. But wheter someone likes her or not, we cannot avoid the fact that all she had done since the first season, she did for Cosima and sisters. After her lover found out Delphine was her monitor, French didn’t do anything on purpose to hurt her. That’s the fact.

After Delphine dissapeared, Cosima was in a very bad condition – not only physical, but also emotional. When Krystal tells Felix she saw Delphine got shot, but then was rescued, Cosima couldn’t believe in it. Then they met on the island. What happens there?

When I look and analyze characters I can say that we don’t know anything about Delphine’s past. How did she get involved in Neolutiovan liern? Is she really from Lille? Who are her parents? Were they scientists too? Is that how she met Aldous Leekie? This is were my theories start. Delphine was shot by detective Duko and then saved by Van Lier. Let’s say again – Ian Van Lier was serving Evie Cho who hated clones. Then why did Ian save Delphine who was so involved in clones’ lives? Of course she was brilliant, but that made her a threat even more – she knew too much. Then why did Van Lier save her?

In season 4th finale where Krystal meets Delphine who is shot in the Dyad parcade, Van Lier appears and takes her somewhere. As we find out later – she is on the island. When Sarah Manning dressed up as Krystal tries to find out what really happened, she asks Ian why did he save Delphine? He then says he was told to. But not by Evie Cho, but someone more important. Who then? Did he mean Westmoreland? If so, why did inventor of Neolution saved Delphine who hates that futuristic science?

the messanger

The scene on the left gave me some tips. We see The Messanger (a man connected to Westmoreland) and Delphine who is operated. It looks like they know each other. I’m not sure about Delphine, but surely him. Does that mean he knew Westmoreland was going to save French doctor? But again – why? Why did Westmoreland along with The Messanger bother to save brilliant doctor who knew too much about everything?

More answers we get in the scene of them talking. The man tells Delphine he is not happy about that. He definitely means legendary P.T. Westmoreland.

Delphine: What am I supposed to do? What does he have to say about this?

The Messanger: He’s not happy about any of this.
convo
Delphine: Of course. Altruism poses a distinct challenge to the evolutionist.

The Messanger: His altruism saved you.

Delphine: That wasn’t what it was.

The Messanger: You won’t be allowed to stay with her.

Delphine. I know. But she’s my patient. So if you’ll please excuse us…

What did he mean by His altruism saved you? And the most important question – why? If Westmoreland is Neolutionist, this probably means he’s gonna support Rachel. Delphine hated that, so why did he save her? In my opinion Delphine is related to Wesmoreland. That’s why she’s talking so freely about him. That’s why he saved her. Maybe she didn’t really know her roots, but I think she may be connected to him. The same thing is with saving Cosima and Charlotte. They didn’t have to save them. Susan, then Rachel took the cure (thank God Cosima took it back before she escaped). Both, woman and a girl, were sick which means weak. And how exactly The Messanger y648know where they were? Maybe it was Delphine who asked Westmoreland to save them in order for her to keep helping him?

What if we don’t know that, but Delphine has more power in Orphan Black than we think she had? Maybe more than she thought she has? Another thing that speaks for my agruments is the book who is going to be released around August 2017. It’s gonna contain all secret files of Dr. Delphine Cormier. It will tell us more about clones but most importantly – more about the character, personality and past of Delphine. This along with the season finale might completely shock us. And, as far as I know amazing creators of Orphan Black (Graeme Manson and John Fawcett) – it’s gonna happen.

Another thing is the new trtumblr_onzyfon0mi1vo44vfo6_r1_400ailers of season finale. Creators gave us a lot and thank you for that! In the first one we see Delphine in the dress and Cosima in the tux suit. Are they going to meet Westmoreland? I think they might. Especially that in the next trailer Delphine says to Cosima: This place is the heart of Neolution.

I know they are haters and lovers of Delphine Cormier. I am definitely team Cophine and I’m not ashamed of that. But sides of the coin cannot deny:  she is very important character and soon we will see if my theories are correct. Or maybe I am wrong? What do you think?

Season finale of Orphan Black starts June 10th on BBC America.

10 Best TV Shows By Me Ranked

11th of March, 2017

Everybody has that kind of list whether it’s about movies, books, music or – as in my post – tv shows. I’m not gonna lie. I think it’s gonna be really hard to pick, because  I’m a huge tv show geek. But well, I’ll do my best and I will try to extract the best of what I’ve watched. All positions have different genre, style and length. But hey, maybe I will inspire someone to watch something awesome.

10. Once Upon A Time

once_upon_a_time_poster9

I fell in love with this tv show about two years ago and I haven’t stopped loving it since then. Canadian production by Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis (the creators of Lost) surprises us with fresh vision of well known fairy tale characters – Snow White, Prince Charming or Evil Queen. Everything starts with Emma Swan – lost, 28 years old orphan, who works as a bounty hunter in Boston. One day on her birthday Emma comes back to her flat and she meets a boy who claims to know Emma. Henry (boy’s name) turns out to be her biological son whom she abandoned ten years ago. Henry claims to live in Storybrooke in Maine – the small town under the curse of time. All of the people there forgot they are the characters from fairy tales. Henry tells Emma that she’s the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming and she is the only one who can remove the spell thrown by Evil Queen (who, by the way, is the adoptive mother). Emma doesn’t believe him at first, but then, after coming to Storybrooke to take Henry back, weird things happen.

Amazing cast (such as Jennifer Morrison, Lana Parilla, Ginnifer Goodwin etc.) only make you watch it more. Reality and magic world seem to be connected in some way – I think this is the best way to explain a child how this works.

9. Full House

02-full-house-reunion-netflix.w1200.h630

TV show made by Jeff Franklin knows almost everybody. First episode of the classic already production aired in 1987. My mom loved that show. 22 years later I started watching it and well, it had to be on my list. Full House tells a story of a dad who recently lost his wife. Danny is forced to raise three daughters – DJ, Stephanie and little Michelle, by himself. The man asks for help from his best goofy friend Joey and his brother-in-law musician Jessie. All three of them try to be perfect parents for the girls who have typical girly problems.

What’s the best in this sitcom is the plot. Everybody has daily problems which seem to be huge in one day, but become past in the next one. Plus the cast – Bob Saget, Dave Coulier, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Olsen twins, Candace Cameron Bure and Jodie Sweetin. And, of course, we can’t forget about Andrea Barber in the role of always annoying Kimmy Gibler.

8. The Fosters

Cast-The-Fosters-817x404_c

This is the freeform production everybody has to watch. At least one episode. I recommend it especially for people who have objections about homosexual people. TV show is about lesbian couple – Stef and Lena, who, except Stef’s biological son Brandon, raise four other children – Jesus, Marianna, Callie and Jude. All of the kids have their own problems along with their parents. All of them go to charter school in San Diego  where Lena is vice headmaster. And all of children come from different families so they all have different, usually very hard experiences.

In my opinion, The Fosters is for everybody. The best cast (Teri Polo, Maia Mitchell, Sheri Saum, Noah Centineo etc.) only makes you watch another episode.

7. Lost Girl

Cast-Main_Season_2.jpg

Paranormal. Surprising. AWESOME. Lost Girl tells us the story of Bo Dennis – half human, half succubus (she needs to be fed by human energy), who struggles with her identity till she meets Kenzi – another lost although human  girl. At first scared, Kenzi starts to like Bo and they both decide to open detective agency for Fae (the kind of beings like Bo).  On the way, Bo needs to decide whether she joins Faes or constatly helps people. The woman tries to do both things. She and Kenzi meet Dyson (shapeshifter), Hale (siren), beuatiful doctor Lauren (human), Tamsin (Valkarie) and Trick – the owner of Dal, legendary Fae pub. All of them quickly become friends. In the same time, Bo falls in love with Dyson and Lauren on change. The team has to solve mysteries and save Faes and people.

I think I like this show, because it was amazing plot and it’s very very unexpecting and surprising.

6. X Company

qr-9hhqsj_o-market_maxres

X Company tells us the story of five people who are trained and prepared to serve during the World War II as secret agents for the Canadian  facility in Ontario. After the training they are supposed to be sent to the field and complete different missions. It is a spy thriller series, created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern. Aurora Luft. Alfred Graves. Neil Mackay. Harry James. Tom Cummings. Five people and they have one target – sabotage of as many Nazi’s plans of destroying the world as they all can do. Spies take the orders from Duncan Sinclair, the leader of Camp X in Ontario. They communicate each other by Morse code through the stations with iambic paddle. The master of it is Harry James, the youngest of all. The leader of the group is Aurora Luft – half Jewish half German young woman. She was journalist at the time when Germans took France. She immidiately organizes a group of Resistance fighters. She knows she’s not gonna let Germans take her land just like that.

To be honest, watching “X Company” was really personal for me. First thing is that I am Polish. As we all know, Poland was kicked down, beaten all the time, people from Poland were in concentration camps, they were executed. So watching this producion made me realize, made me appreaciate one more time what people from the past did for our future. You should definitely watch it!

5. House, M.D.

house.jpg

Gregory House is, I think, the most famous doctor in the world. Even if someone didn’t watch it, probably heard about this cynical, mean to women and in general human beings doctor. I am feminist, but somehow this one guy still rocks for me. Dr.House (Hugh Laurie) works in Pricetown Plainsboro Teaching Hospital led by Lisa Cuddy (amazing Lisa Edelstein). Gregory creates a special team containing cynical Eric Foreman (Omar Epps), Robert Chase (Jesse Spencer) and Allison Cameron (Jennifer Morrison). All of them try to solve the most horrible and dangerous cases. In the same time, every character struggles with their own problems. House has his old, best friend James Wilson who helps him with everything.

Even if you don’t like medical movies or tv shows, believe me – you will like this.

4. Charmed

Charmed Season 2 Header.png

I have to confess – Charmed was my best tv show in my teenage years. I was obssesed with this show and I couldn’t stop watching it. I still like to come back to this and watch it from time to time, thinking about good old days.

Three sisters – Prue, Piper and Phoebe, live in their house in San Francisco, leading pretty stable life. The youngest, Phoebe, is coming back from her journey in New York, but Prue (the oldest) doesn’t like it too much. In the night Phoebe goes to the attic where she finds old book – The Book of Shadows. She reads the spell from the front page and forgets about it.

It turns out the next day that each sister got superpower – Prue can move things with her mind, Piper freezes time and Phoebe can  tell the future by touching someone. All of them are scared, but decide to go for it. They gain more and more power and become The Power of Three, the most powerful witches in the world. The girls fight with evil demons and protect the world. They always can count on the help of their ghost of grandma or mom.

Charmed always makes me smile, because this is this kind of show you watch when you have bad day and suddenly you are in completely different world.

3. Raising Hope

4948.jpg

You have a fight, you have a bad mood and you need something that’ll make you happy – Raising Hope! At first I thought it’s gonna be stupid show. And sure, it is silly sometimes, but hello, that’s how people are!

Jimmy, 23 years old man lives with their parents – Burt and Virgina (they became parents in the very early age) and his greatgrandma Maw Maw who struggles with Alzeiheimer. The family is poor – Virginia works as a maid and Burt along with his son clean pools and do gardening jobs. Everything changes when Jimmy rescues stranger girl Lucy and spends night with her. Lucy turns out to be a serial murderer, but it’s not a problem for Virginia who knocks her out with TV. The girl ends up in the jail, but that’s not the end – she is pregnant! Jimmy has to take care of a little girl, his baby, because Lucy is about to be executed.

Along with Hope (the name of the girl), Jimmy starts to learn how it’s like to be a parent. Virginia and Burt help his son as much as they can. Jimmy decides to work in the grocery store where he meets his friends – creepy Frank, Barney – his clumsy boss and Sabrina – the girl Jimmy falls in love with at the first sight. Producions tells us about normal daily struggles, but in the same time makes us laugh more than ever!

2. F.R.I.E.N.D.S

23-friends-cover-story-lede.w750.h560.2x

Who knows me knows that I just love this production! The funny life stories of six friends – Rachel, Joey, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler and Ross, will make you laugh no matter what. Sure, sitcom is silly, but that’s how sitcoms are.

I think it’s the best show for students and people who just start their life on their own. Each character has problems like us – they try to find a job, they fall in love and then they break up, they fight among each other and then they have to face each other. All of them have fights with their parents or they don’t even talk to them. Who doesn’t have struggles like that? That’s why it’s so good. Because in the same time, Friends show you us in a funny, light way, that every problem has solution and after one bad day, another good one comes!

1.Orphan Black

Orphan-Black-Season-1-Recap.jpg

And we’re here with the best, in my opinion, show ever – Orphan Black! I need to say that, I have some personal reasons to like it so much because thanks to this show I met my love. But! Even without it, I think this Canadian production by Graeme Manson and John Fawcett deserves the first place. It’s sad that back in Poland it’s so underrated, I don’t even think it aired. Thank God it became a huge success in Canada and America.

I honestly don’t know how to explain the plot, because it’s complicated but I will do my best. Orphan Black begins with the arrival of Sarah back in Toronto. Sarah Manning is an orphan who was raised by Siobhan Sadler (Mrs. S) together with Felix, her foster brother. She is troublemaker, always leaves her daughter Kira and drinks a lot. Sarah waits on the train station and experiances the most awful thing – young woman  commits suicide in front of her. But the weirdest thing is that the stranger looks exactly like…Sarah!

It turns out that the girl along with others who look like her are the experiment of the Dyad Institute – powerful, very dangerous place led by dr. Aldous Leekie. Sarah meets Alison, Cosima, Katja, Rachel and other like her. In the same time they need to deal with the police, Dyad and someone who tries to kill them.

The plot is amazing and full of surprises, but I think for aplaus deserves Tatiana Maslany, Canadian actress who plays the role of ALL of the clones. Maslany won the Emmy for her roles, but I think she needs to be more appreciated. She created over 20 faces and all of them are different from another. Next to her we can see amazing Evelyne Brochu as Delphine (Cosima’s lover), Kristian Bruun, Maria Doyle Kennedy, Jordan Gavaris and many many more. It’s amazing and you need to see that!

Playing With The Enemy In The New Season of ‘X Company’

12th of January, 2017

Season 3 of Canadian spy drama has begun… With a loud bum. Where did it end? At Dieppe. It was a loss of our five heroes, death of Tom (Dustin Milligan) and abduction of Miri, Neil’s love (Warren Brown). But, despite of thrilling and decidedly touching moments, we also had great news. Franz Faber (Torben Liebrecht), Brigadeführer, who was promoted by the man himself, decided to work with Allies.

15590219_1814674765459198_8988966429544835259_n.png

The first episode started with arrival of Duncan Sinclair (Hugh Dillon) himself. He decides to help his team out. He still doesn’t trust Faber, especially that his deal’s condition was not to involve his wife Sabine (Livia Matthes) into the whole thing. It turns out the man doesn’t even know where his wife is. Aurora (Évelyne Brochu) along with Alfred (Jack Laskey) leave the base and try to find the woman. Things get complicated when Aurora sees her with an older man who turns out to be her father and really serious, respectable man with the high status. The team is affraid that Sabine will tell him everything about the deal with Faber and well… They might be right. The episode ends with the scene of Sabine who says – Papa…It’s serious. It’s about Franz.

Meanwhile, Neil struggles with the loss of his best friend Tom at Dieppe. The man also tries to find out what happened to Miri. Harry helps him out. After a road trip, they are stopped by a Nazi truck who ran out of the gas. Just at the end spies realize, that in the truck there are no officers, but prisoners and… Miri.

I think the interesting thing in the episode was Kristina’s (Lara Jean Chorostecki) evolution. Yes, I think I can say that. Right after her boss Sinclair goes to the team, she takes things into her hands and no, she’s not gonna play with traitors. I hope there is gonna be more of her this season.

15965095_1824628027797205_7121606644348685848_n

Third and the last season of X Company promises to be the most exciting season, especially for me, Polish woman. In episode fourth, the gang will end up in Poland, trying to find out more about Sabine’s father.

The next episode is gonna focus on Franz’s promoting party. Aurora is gonna be Helene Bauer. Evelyne Brochu in the interview for Real Style says – It’s Faber’s (Torben Liebrecht) promotion party, but he’s undercover for us. I go undercover from that day on, as a German character. So we’re both on these undercover journeys, where we’re both mirroring each other’s journey of pretending to be someone else and being in danger for it.

aurora_s3

For me, Aurora is one of the most interesting characters in the show. She was a journalist, as me, she is strong, she is a leader yet she is lost. We saw how in season 2 she lost herself in undercover. She was supposed to pretend to be a friend of Sabine, but she actually became her friend. We see her struggles, her tear between the team and her new friend. How is she supposed to fight for freedom and get back Sabine’s trust? We will see. As Brochu said in one interview, she will become Helen Bauer for 24/7. I’m really looking forward to it. It’s probably gonna be the hardest thing to do for Aurora, because she will have to leave herself somewhere in the base and become this new, German  sympathizer lady. I assume it’s not gonna be easy to come back to her own personality afterwards.

tumblr_odg5ygsrvn1v6390yo1_1280

The tensions raises, enemies are all around, but I don’t doubt in the team. I know that the moment when they cross Poland is gonna be the most thrilling moments. I’m looking forward to it.

Do Not Take My Choice Away

03rd of October, 2016

czarny-poniedzialek-warszawa-krakow-wroclaw-poznan-program

This time I’m not gonna review any movie or tv show. This time I’m not gonna tell you what you should watch or not. This time I need to speak out for my country Poland and Polish women. I am a journalist. Although I still study, I feel like a journalist. And I feel it is my duty to step up and use written words to tell people all over the world and also, show my disagreement.

If you haven’t been informed yet, I’m gonna tell you what is going on and why we need support all over the world. One party, Law and Justice – very conservative and religious party, decided to implement the new anti-abortion law in our life. Before, Polish women could use abortion when they were raped, when the fetus was gonna die after birth and when woman’s pregnancy was in danger. And I thought it was okay. I thought that law was not the worst, because women still had a choice.

But now Law and Justice along with the help of the institution of the church wants women to give birth no matter what! No matter if they are in danger, raped or the baby is gonna die! Poland is a beautiful country,  but people here are falling down. And those people are people who are in charge and they shouldn’t be. They want to take us back to the medieval times. We don’t have equal rights, LGBT community is suppressed and now this is happening which is the worst.

My mind cannot comprehend the mentality of those people. Those people who are for the new anti-abortion law call themselves true Catholics. They think they follow The Bible and they do it right. But for real, they are living in a lie and they are blinded. Blinded by their own horrible views.

I do not think the church should be involved into politics. But here, in Poland, it is, very much. And the thing is, that people who really are good Catholics, who really understand that you should love someone no matter what, that you should be nice, that you should be honest do not have the clout. That hurts me the most.

I am fighting with my own ways with this case. I draw pictures, I post photos, now I am writing this. Some people asked me – why are you doing this? It’s not like you will change anything. Well, I prefer to do something, to raise my voice than not to do this and then regret. I am a woman. I am not a mother yet but I will be one day. I don’t plan to live in Poland but my sister and all women I know will be. I don’t want that future for them. I don’t want them to live in a fear when they happen to misscarry their pregnancy.

If you still don’t have the full view of what’s going on, I am gonna help you. Ispired by the speech in A Time To Kill, I will help you to imagine everything and feel the horror of all women. This is what is gonna happen when the new law becomes the reality.

There is a beautiful, 11 years old girl. She is looking at you, calling you to help her with her homework. She is your daughter. You love her more than anything, you cherish every moment with her, she is your little angel. You help her with what she needs and after that she goes to school. You kiss her before she goes and tell her how much you love her and how much you are proud of her. You are occupied with your work after. Couple hours later and she is not back home. You are worried sick, but you don’t know what to do. In a moment when you want to go outside and start looking for her, you got the call. Uknown number. You open your eyes wide as you hear the voice in the phone. Your little angel is in the hospital. She was brutaly raped. (…) Can you see her? Her raped, beaten, broken body? (…)* Your whole world is falling apart. You are running to her, you didn’t even take car, you’re just running. When you finally are in the hospital, when you finally see her little body, you can’t stop crying. You let your tears fall down.

The second week passes by. You are at the doctor’s office and you hear the worst thing ever – your little angel is pregnant. She is just a little child. You still remember how you helped her with her homework before she went to school. Your  11 years old daughter is pregnant. And then it hit you like a giant rock in the head. She will have to give birth. Your little angel will have to give birth to the child of her rapist, because this is new Polish law and she has to. You’re hiding your head behind your hands and you cry. Because there is nothing you can do. You will just have to look at your little daughter  to go through pregnancy. Why? Because your goverment thought it was a great idea changing the good law.

Can you imagine that? Do you feel that? It does not matter whether you’re a mother or father in this horrible situation. You can even be a brother, a sister or a grandma. You’re gonna have to go through something like that, you’re gonna have to watch your daughter/sister/cousin/granddaughter to go through something like that.

And this will happen also when adult is raped. Or if the woman misscarries the pregnancy. If the new anti-abortion law passes, they will have to give birth or fight in the court, accused of prenatal murder.

Today is the protest. I am not going to my college because I want to show that I don’t agree with that. I hope people all over the world will keep fingers crossed for Polish women. And Polish people who are for anti-abortion law? It’s gonna be brutal what I’m gonna say – if the new anti-abortion law goes through, we will see. We will see when how you experience what you’ve voted for. We will see how you cry over your daughter/sister/wife. Because she will have to give birth to this child.

Do not do that. This is our choice.

Remember My Words. Forget My Name.

23th of September, 2016

The title is actually a quote. Those are words of Aurora Luft – one of the main characters in Canadian/Hungarian tv show called “X Company”. You don’t know this show? Well, that’s a shame, but I’m coming with the review of this production, so you would know if you liked it. Let’s get started.

qr-9hhqsj_o-market_maxres

“X Company” tells us the story of five people who are trained and prepared to serve during the World War II as secret agents for the Canadian  facility in Ontario. After the training they are supposed to be sent to the field and complete different missions. It is a spy thriller series, created by Mark Ellis and Stephanie Morgenstern.

There had been two seasons of the show by far. Third and in the same time last season is gonna air around February 2017. As the creators say, the project was in their minds for a long time. They finally could produce  what they’ve dreamed of. And I can tell you one thing. They did it good.

xcompanys2

What are the opinions? Different. Some people say that the historic facts are messed up. Other say that the show is good. Denette Wilford from Huffington Post said that X Company is another history lesson CBC is offering audiences, and it nails it once again. I’m not gonna say whether I agree with it or not. I am not historician either and I can’t point exactly what facts may or may not be truth. The one thing is for sure – Camp X existed in a real life and I don’t need anything else.

Someone may be upset with me and not agree with me. Well, if the show is so good, I don’t care if one thing may not be exactly true. Besides, iny my opinion in this show is more about human relationships during the World War II other than exact historic events.

She knows she’s not gonna let Germans take her land just like that.

tumblr_nl6guqsK1g1rnpbf6o1_500.png

She’s an excellent leader. And here we have another thing I need to talk about. How media changed their attidute towards women’s roles. There she is, a female leader. She’s in charge of four other fighters, four men and she is amazing at it. Aurora is smart, Aurora has a strong sense of intuition and the most important – she knows what she does.

I could not not mention amazing character – Alfred. The man joins the group only because of one reason. He has super intelligence and memory. He can only look at something once and he remembers. That’s why he is deathly weapon for Germans. In the same time as he works with others, he needs to be protected. Aurora is told not to let Germans take him alive. It’s getting harder and harder, because young woman find strong feelings towards him.

tumblr_nt3b79c0zh1uzu7pvo1_1280

Their relationship is really strong. In the same time though, Aurora always tries to treat all friends equally, so at one point, she is really torn apart.

We also have Tom, Neil and Harry. Tom and Neil are very good friends. They know each other very well, they are loyal and respectful towards Aurora. The same goes with Harry. Although he has rebellious moments , he knows that the woman is a great leader.

As I’m talking about the characters I also have to mention the actors who did and do amazing job, bringing the history back again. Evelyne Brochu, Warren Brown, Jack Laskey, Connor Price and Dustin Milligan are doing amazing job, creating characters all fans adore and support. When we look at the pictures behind the scenes, we also see how close all of them are. It’s really important for actors to be friends, because then characters are real.

As I said at the beginning, “X Company” circulates around the World War II. It is about five spies who complete missions, sabotage Germans and fight for their country. But in the same time you see their connections. Their closeness. Their personal struggles. You see how Tom is apart with his love. How Harry falls in love and is in pain. How Alfred is scared because he hates gun shots and gun, but he has to fight it in order to serve the country. You see how Aurora has to cope with loss and how she has to gain the trust of someone who could be best friend, but she can’t be friends with them. And you notice that all of them have problems, big problems. But all of them support each other.

Next to it, we witness horrible scenes from World War II. We see executing innocent men, because that’s what they had to do. We see how sometimes you need to kill someone who you love, so they could be safe, so they wouldn’t be in slavery. We see how strong you have to be after losing the best friend, in that moment you just need to pull yourself together and fight for your country.

In one or maybe two episodes there is Polish man who helps spies. I was watching and I was wondering what would I do if I lived in the times of World War II. Would I fight like them for my freedom? Would I be caught? Or would I just give up straight away?

I couldn’t answer on any of these question. I just appreciated my greatgrandfather one more time. Him and many other people.

Today “X Company” gets 8/10 stars. If you like drama, if you like spy thrillers and some history, this tv show is for you. Plus amazing cast and acting deserves audience and applause.

Farewell!

Zoshu
